"THE BROOKS RANGE AND FOLLY LAKE IN FALL-ALASKA"

The mind is an amazing thing. Two physician colleagues that I worked with many years ago talked passionately about going on a wilderness fly-in trip to backpack the Brooks Range in Alaska. They never did. But I could never let this idea go. I pictured the adventure in my mind for twenty years and, sure enough, it finally happened. When it did there was a sense of deja vu. The trip unfolded precisely as I had envisioned all those years even though I left most of the planning to my guide. The photographs that now grace the walls of my home and office had been imagined many times before they were taken. Galen Rowell calls this the photographer's inner vision.
