"STRANGER THAN FICTION-BLUE FOOTED BOOBIE-GALAPAGOS"

The Galapagos Islands are home to many strange creatures. There you find penguins in the tropics, iguanas that swim in the ocean and sneeze salt, cormorants that can't fly, fish that "fish" for other fish, and a vampire finch that drinks the blood of other birds.

And that's just for starters. There are also bizarre birds called "boobies," but not for the obvious reason (in fact no one knows the origen of the name). They have brilliant red or blue webbed feet. And I mean a "put on your sunglasses" kind of brilliance. And if that's not strange enough the red footed booby's feet are not only red and webbed, but also prehensile (they can grasp), like most other birds. So they perch and nest in trees, with their webbed feet. Gadzooks! It's a scene Hollywood could have dreamed up but didn't. This Sci-fi is for real, and 300,000 people from around the world come every year to Galopagos just to see it.
