It's a mad, mad, mad world. If you doubt it, consider this. The American desert southwest is the fastest growing region in the country. Has been for awhile. Seems people will do most anything to get out of the north. Even move to Las Vegas, Phoenix, or Tucson, where they trade the cold for desert heat and water wars. These are boom towns all. Why in the world?

It's a hot and scary place! With bleached bones and rusty revolvers. Empty beer cans and broken whiskey bottles. And dreams, some that come true, and some that don't. There are rattlesnakes everywhere. Diamondback monsters, sinuous, python sized, and poisonous to boot. And more bugs than snakes, in your face and in the trail mix. Mice scampering around the tent and scorpions sharing your pillow. Sand in the soup and quicksand in your boots. Out of water and miles from nowhere. The ever so patient vulture, circling overhead, cheering for the snakes.

Really! Why would anyone want to move there?
